Party, Party! And Two Months Old!!

It was a busy weekend for our family as we had two birthday parties to attend!  While it made for fun and celebration, it also kept us busy both Saturday and Sunday afternoons!

Here is Faith at the Saturday party taking a swing at the butterfly pinata!

And of course Shane had a turn too!

Mixed in with all the fun was a mini celebration for Olivia being two months old!  It's so hard to believe that she has reached that age already!  Time is flying by.  She continues to be just as sweet, easy-going, and content as ever!  Yesterday she went in for her two month check up.  The doctor confirmed my thoughts that she is growing well as she is in the 75th percentile for height and weight!  She is now 11 pounds and 12 ounces and 23 inches long!!

I was trying to take a few pictures of Olivia on Sunday (the day she turned two months), and of course Shane insisted on being included in some of the pictures!

My two girls!  Faith wanted to introduce Olivia to one of her favorite TV shows!

From Winter to Summer

In the course of a day, our wintery weather was gone and we were thrown back into the midst of summer!  Taking advantage of the great weather, bike rides were taken as well as a few trips to the beach park.

One of the beach parks was redone this fall, so it was exciting to go and play on the new structures.  Of course, Faith wanted to spend quite a bit of time on the zip line!  We went on Monday, forgetting it was a day off from school, and it was packed!

We went back on Tuesday while Faith was in Kindermusik.  Shane wants to try the zip line, but changes his mind as he is getting onto the rope!  Steve said he would go if Shane would.  Here is Steve...and Shane once again changed his mind!

It's hard to believe that this little bundle of joy is already 8 weeks old!  We are so grateful that she continues to be a happy, content, sweet little girl!

Olivia and I before church on Sunday.  She is wearing her first (of many!!) dress!

Settling Into Life!

There haven't been too many blog posts lately as life around here hasn't been extra exciting!  Our focus has been settling into what our new normal life is.  As we figure out our new routines here are a few pictures from the past week!  The above picture is taken from the new hiking trails in Ventura in Grant Park.

Olivia sporting a new bow given to her by a friend of mine!  She's quite excited!

We tried to do "tummy time" the other day, and she gave up pretty quickly!

Last night Olivia enjoyed a little girl time as we celebrated my friend Julie's birthday!  She did so well!  And of course it was fun for me to have a night out with my dear friends!

Finally, here's the sweet little girl wearing a sweater that I wore when I was a baby!  Amazing that my mom held onto it for 30 some years!!  Olivia better not get any ideas that I will do the same! The cold spell that we have been experiencing in CA the past week proved to be a prefect opportunity to wear the sweater!

Christmas Extended!

Our Christmas celebrations were extended once again as we welcomed the Bruinsma side of the family to Southern California!  Aunt Betsy and Grandpa and Grandma came out last week to celebrate Christmas, and of course see baby Olivia!  Betsy was here for a shorter visit (and had not been out last month!), so she insisted on being the baby hog while she was here!  Little Olivia was thrilled to have extra hands to hold her.

Despite a raining morning on Saturday, the sky cleared and it ended up being a great day to be at the zoo!  Shane didn't want his new Hulk to miss out on the fun!

When Grandpa wasn't holding the baby, he was most often found reading the Spiderman books to the kids!  He read those books too many times to even count!

And while everyone was here, Olivia celebrated being one month old!  Amazing how fast time flies!  She is doing really well, growing quite a bit, and becoming more alert and more fun all the time!  It's going to be an exciting year watching her continue to grow and develop.  Since Grandpa and Grandma were in town, Steve and I were even able to get away for a New Years Eve date night!  Just as 2012 was a year of fun and adventure, I am sure 2013 will bring more of the same!
