Last Wednesday the older two kid entered Mom's Shoe Tying Academy! After about 20 minutes of focused attention on the task at hand, both kids were tying their own shoes! Yeah!! No more rushing to get everyone out the door, then to stop and tie shoes, then rush once again! Let's just say this mom was motivated to have a little more independence in her children!
What fun would life be if we didn't do some celebrating...even the "small" tasks in life?!?! The two shoe-tiers had to come up with a place for lunch that they both wanted to go to! What did they come up with?? Well, after about 30 minutes of debate, they finally settled on Jersey Mikes! And it was a good decision as we all enjoyed it!
Since the shoe tying went so well last week, I was feeling confident and decided to stop putting off potty training Olivia! Monday was the first day, and while there were a few moments to celebrate, it primarily consisted of cleaning up after accidents! It was exhausting!! Tuesday was pretty mixed, and I will admit I wanted to give up. Thoughts of waiting until summer (she'd be that much older and I wouldn't have school or as many activities distracting us!) danced in my head, but I decided to stick with it!
And I'm thankful I did as for whatever reason day three is the game changer with my kids in potty training! Today we had no accidents, and I even dared to venture out with her wearing just undies (no pull-up with the undie!), which went well! Yeah Olivia! Again, the treats/rewards make it fun, especially for my girl who loves sweets. She receives an M&M or bite sized cookie as a reward for her successful efforts! While it will be interesting to see how it all continues, we for sure had a great day today!
